Privacy policy

MergeSafe Contacts Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 31, 2026 · Applies to the Android app app.mergesafe.contacts.pro, published by KMF Tech.

MergeSafe Contacts is designed to process contact information on your device.

Contact data

MergeSafe requests permission to read and modify contacts so it can identify exact duplicate phone numbers or email addresses, show merge previews, perform merges you approve, and restore backups.

Contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, and backups are not automatically uploaded to MergeSafe, its developer, or an analytics provider. The app does not require an account and does not operate a contact-data server.

Local backups

Before an approved merge, MergeSafe stores a JSON backup in the app's private local storage. These backups are used to restore the original records. They remain on the device until removed by the app, its storage is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. A device backup service operated by the phone platform may include app data according to the user's device settings.

If a restore is paused for safety, the app can create a recovery report containing the original contact backup, recovery journals, and the reason the restore stopped. The app shows a warning before offering this action. Export opens Android's system share sheet, and the report is sent or saved only if the user explicitly chooses a destination. MergeSafe does not choose a recipient or transmit the report automatically. It attempts to remove its temporary plaintext cache copy after the share sheet finishes, is cancelled, or fails, and reports an export error if that cleanup cannot be confirmed.

Purchases

One-time purchases are processed by Google Play. MergeSafe receives purchase-entitlement information from Google Play but does not receive or store full payment-card details.

Analytics and advertising

MergeSafe does not include third-party advertising, behavioral analytics, or contact-data monetization.

Data sharing

MergeSafe does not sell contact information or share it automatically. If the user explicitly exports a paused-restore recovery report, Android shares it with only the destination the user selects; that destination processes the report under its own privacy terms. Information may also be processed by Google as necessary to provide Android permissions, Google Play distribution and purchases, and device backup under Google's applicable policies.

Security

MergeSafe limits contact changes to groups the user reviews and approves. It writes a local backup before mutation and cancels a merge if that backup cannot be written. No software can guarantee absolute security, so users should maintain normal device or account-level contact synchronization and backups.

Children

MergeSafe is a general utility and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be reflected by updating the effective date and publishing the revised policy at this address and with the app's store materials.
